Messages of Hope

The Message of Hope Program was started to allow for patients that are discharging to communicate their own message of hope to incoming patients. Deciding to come to an inpatient facility can be a challenging and frightening decision for a lot of our young people, these messages are written from the direct experience of those that came before them. The hope is that it relieves some of the initial anxiety and stress. The purpose of the program is to have patients write down words of encouragement that were helpful to them when they arrived. It is a simple way of ‘paying it forward.”

I know it can be tough right now with what you are going through but please listen to the advice I am going to give you. Step 1, put in the work. If you do not, then you will not recover properly and will have a longer stay here. Some of you may want to go home or somewhere else, and you will eventually, if you try hard and put the work in. Step 2, put yourself out there. Your time here is going to be for a decent length so definitely talk to other patients and staff members. Everyone is here for you! The last tip is something that worked for me. This is going to most of the groups, if not all. You never know what is going to happen in there, so you should for sure attend I wish you all nothing but the best :)

Welcome to Malvern! Here you will feel safe, heard, and cared for. This is a great place to heal. The staff is tremendously caring, kind, and great listeners. You will also meet some great people here and make lifelong friends. I am so glad here for my first inpatient. The treatment team was the best team I've ever had. The staff and others truly saved and changed my life

Malvern can be the best place to get the help you need if you open up and receive all that it offers. Don't be afraid to talk and open up in groups and also make friends by branching out. It's all going to be extremely overwhelming at first but it gets better, Remember, you were strong enough to bring yourself here to get the help you wanted and/or needed so keep that same energy and you'll be completely fine, I promise. Everyone on the staff is amazing and they'll make your stay worth while.

To every one who comes to Mavern B.H., there is one thing you need to know when you step off that elevator, this is a place to me was a second home. I felt comfortable and welcomed, from staff and my fellow peers. I learned one thing being here-it made me a better man. Be the best person you can be!

Hello! Let me first say I am so proud of you for coming here. You are brave and strong. You got this! The first day or two will be strange or confusing, you will get through it. This was my first time as an inpatient. It might not be yours but trust the staff; they are always there for you. The outside world can wait. Take this time for you. Best of luck and much love.

To the next person that comes, I would like to say: Come with an open mind and let the staff help because it really works. Also, I would advise you to participate in the groups because they are very helpful and mood changing whenever you are feeling sad or depressed. I feel really good about myself, better than when I walked in here and I can say I'm a little different now.

Hello Newcomer! I gotta say, you really lucked out. You have just become a patient at one of, if not, the best mental health facility ever! This is coming from a former patient, someone who was not all that happy to be in a place like this is in the beginning. But this place has taught me so much about myself! I learned about taking care of myself, both physically and mentally, learning to manage my own demons, and can happily say that I'm leaving here with a healthier frame of mind! Newcomer, you are going to love the staff here. The nurses, the techs, the therapists, the social workers, and the doctors who work here are some of the most genuine, supportive, and interesting people you will meet! They are really going to help see that you leave here a better version of you! Hopefully, you will also be put with people who are going through similar problems to you, so maybe you can make a friend or two in here. And don't worry about being stuck in here, Byt the time you get out, you are going to be just like me, moving on to a better future!
